Milwaukee City Tour

Image
Kill two birds with one stone is the exact phrase to describe our trip to Milwaukee. We received an invitation to a wedding reception months ago by Ayu's friend. We felt it would be great opportunity to expand our visit to poke around Milwaukee since none of us has ever been there before.  The trip began on Friday afternoon because we had to shop for matching reception clothes, and yeah we were too busy with work so we didn't really have time to go shopping. We booked a cheap motel at Oak Creek, which is 15 mins from Milwaukee. We don't like spending too much for our hotels during trips as we make an effort to spend more time exploring and less time laying in bed. This is the first trip that we did without preparing an itinerary so it's more like "pack your bag and just go" kinda trip. We arrived at the hotel around 11 PM and we went straight to bed. The wedding reception is at 5 pm so we had time to go somewhere and explore the city. We had Taco Be

Bubble RUN 5K - 2017

Image
This Is SPARTA! Since we are both now working, getting time off simultaneously to have a short vacation has been challenging. We have never heard about Bubble RUN until it randomly popped up on our Facebook news feed. Apparently they do this every year in many cities across the U. S. This year, the Kentucky event was on July 29th, 2017 in Sparta which is only an hour drive from our place. With a $20 fee for each, you will get the admission to Bubble RUN and the merchandise (race t-shirt, bubble runner headband, a temporary tattoo and race bib number with safety pins). We woke up early on that day because we had to pick up our merchandise an hour before the race. By the time we got there, we forgot to bring cash for the parking fee for $10 (we swear we didn't do this in purpose!). We asked the parking attendant if we could find ATM nearby because we didn't have any cash.  He looked at us and said,  "You don't have any cash at all?", w e shook our heads

Tulip Time Festival 2017: A Little Touch of Dutch

Image
About a month ago, our friend posted a link about Tulip Festival Around The World 2017 on her Facebook page which gave us the idea. Some people, including us, were not aware that such festivals existed. It excited us to know that we don't have to go to the Netherlands or Japan to see tulips, because we both enjoy flowers and though we tried planting tulips ourselves, we weren't so successful. We chose Holland, Michigan because it is closer to us. The Tulip Time Festival in Holland, Michigan was held on May 6th - May 14th, 2017. It has been held every year in mid-May since 1929 and is currently the largest tulip festival in the United States.  We started looking for information about the festival and found out that we could get the brochure for free by joining their official website mailing list. The brochure was really helpful because they gave information about parking spots, Tulip Lanes map, festival schedules, activities, and many more. We decided to go there in the

Frozen Niagara Tour, Mammoth Cave, KY

With Elsa's passing, we were trying to distract our attention by visiting few places in Kentucky for a start. FYI, Elsa was our dog and she just passed two weeks before due to cancer.  Our first destination was  Mammoth Cave National Park . Joe wanted to visit it for a long time but never had the chance. Well, that day finally came. We booked the reservation for Frozen Niagara Tour a few days before the tour because Ayu casually looked up the website and found out that there were only 14 available seats left on that weekend, so we did it right away. Our tour schedule was on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 at 09.00 AM. Though reservations are not required but are strongly recommended, you really don't wanna spend the time to go there just to find out that there's no seat left, right? They offer sign interpreter services for cave and surface activities to visitors free of charge if you give a notice two weeks prior your visit, which is really cool. The Frozen Niagara To
